~A Night With Aurora Borealis~

An article I wrote for the travel magazine I am working for. Hope you will like it

”The experiences, the trips you have made to your life, will never be completed if you do not, even once, see the Northern Lights. You may have heard them as Aurora Borealis. It is the most beautiful phenomenon that nature can offer, with sudden appearances and a variety of colors. It occurs mainly in polar regions, both in the Northern and Southern hemispheres, and takes part in the upper layers of the Earth.

The descriptions of people who traveled to the edge of the Earth, for a look of North Sellah, are intoxicating and full of emotion. The sweet anticipation and the excitement are all that embellish the whole purpose of the journey. We can never be sure of when or when it will appear, but when this happens, be sure that you will be rewarded for every second of waiting.

When to go

If the purpose of your trip is to see the Northern Lights, you need to be sure you plan the appropriate dates. You need to know that you need absolute darkness to see and that will not happen during the summer months. At the same time, the sky should be clear, without clouds, which will be difficult to achieve in the autumn. A trip between December and April would be ideal for your purpose of seeing the Northern Lights.

Where to go

For all of us who live in Europe the destination is one and it is called Scandinavia. The northernmost points of Sweden, Norway and Finland are your best chance to face the North Lights. Northern Norway, especially the area around Tromso, is probably the most popular destination for travelers who wishing for a ‘moment’ with Aurora Borealis. A good choice is considered to be Iceland and eastern Canada, as opposed to northern Russia, where it is almost impossible to appear.

Patience is essential in this journey and you should, beyond the suitcases, also carry some mental reserves above. Stay a few days in the area and if you are lucky you will be rewarded. Good luck
