The summer is coming to an end and many of us have begun to plan our next trip. Since the Greek islands are monopolizing our interest during the summer months, in the winter we will vote for Europe. How about a less popular destination? A journey that escapes a bit of the classic choices. Would you like to travel to Vilnius, Lithuania?
Lithuania is one of the three countries of the Baltic Sea and is located in north-eastern Europe. Vilnius, beyond the capital of the country, is also the center of Europe, since it is located in the center of Epirus. It is one of the most beautiful cities in Europe, with great natural and cultural beauty. It combines a neoclassical style and the eccentricity of Western civilization. It has been declared a cultural heritage monument by UNESCO. It is a vibrant city, it has cinfidence and brings its charm to visitors in any way.
A stone’s throw from Vilnius is the fully restored castle, Trakai. The castle stands proud on a green island and floats on a lake, creating a backdrop made of canvas painting. Still, the city is at the intersection of two rivers, Vilnia and Neris, giving visitors the opportunity to admire the waves that crawl on the shores of this picturesque city.
The unique energy and atmosphere offered by Vilnius make it a very loved winter destination. Especially for the more daring and selective. Nature combined with the sights and romance, make up a magical journey that has nothing to jealous of the other major European cities.
Below you will see some points of interest that will convince you that Lithuania should be at the top of your list for this year.
Trakai Castle
Duke’s Palace
Saint Anna’s Church
The beautiful sights can win the visitor, but there are countless reasons to visit Lithuania. Nature, national parks and warm hospitality are some of them. Dare something different and the city will reward you with the best possible way.
